Migrant Crisis: Closing Macedonia Border Will Not Stop Influx

CONSTANTA - Romania - The EU has once again miscalculated the ingenuity and tenacity of migrants wishing to reach the hallowed European countries who hold an open door policy.

The Macedonian fence is of little consequence when people can travel through the Black sea route from Turkey through to Burgas or Varna in Bulgaria, from there it is a case of going through Romania, maybe clipping part of Southern Ukraine, or going through Hungary.

Romania is an open country and easy to traverse with little or no checks. Once through Ukraine, Slovakia and Austria are easy to reach within a few days.

Although Romania and Bulgaria are not part of the Schengen free travel policy, there is little or no border control among some routes known to smugglers and well-travelled migrants.

This is why as one route is closed, others are always open, lest we forget the Southern Italian route from Tunisia and Libya which are currently lawless countries with millions of people making the short journey to either Malta or Reggio Calabria in Italy.

This summer over 6 million people are planning to move to Europe and the problem will only get worse next year and the year after that. The EU and its utter helplessness in the matter is only made worse by its poor and slow decision making.

The Schengen zone should have been completely closed down last year, but the EU’s obstinacy will ultimately cost them their Eurozone by keeping the free movement law.

The Greek route is of course the easiest to arrive in, this time take a left through Kakavia, Leskovic, Albania or alternatively through Romania avoiding Macedonia. Once through those countries it is relatively easy to get to Germany or Sweden.

Most EU countries do not have fences at their borders and the ones that do, are altogether unguarded and easy to traverse with some wire cutters. The migrants have whole teams dedicated to going through obstacles, as well as the smugglers.

As mentioned before, the current route shift is through the Black sea, where there are no checks and onto Romania. This shift works well for millions of migrants and the deluge will increase through Romania this summer.
