LOS ANGELES - USA - MTV will stop playing music videos because the ubiquity of internet music has made songs and videos “passé”, the company’s chief executive has revealed.
In an interview with the New York Times, CEO Roger Dorkin said MTV viewers had agreed with a proposal to stop broadcasting music videos from March 2016.
The redesigned MTV, will still feature a music video of the Month but it will be presented as a single still photograph aired with no audio and will only be on screen for thirty five seconds.
Dorkin told the NYT: “You’re now one click away from every song and music video imaginable for free. And so it’s just passé at this juncture.”
